Prague Castle and Charles Bridge over the Vltava River
Czech Republic Weekend Guide

Two Days Is Enough to See Something Remarkable

The Czech Republic is small enough to cross in a few hours, but rich enough to keep you exploring for years. This is a guide to making the most of your weekends — from medieval towns to sandstone canyons.

Start Exploring

Why Weekends Here Are Different

I moved to Prague six years ago and spent the first two years barely leaving the city. Then a friend dragged me to Cesky Krumlov on a rainy Saturday in October. Something clicked. The country I thought I knew turned out to have layers I had completely missed.

Since then, I have spent most of my weekends on the road — or on trains, which are genuinely good here. I have visited castles that almost no one writes about, walked through forests that feel untouched, and eaten in village restaurants where the menu exists only in Czech and the food is extraordinary.

This site is my attempt to share what I have found. Nothing is sponsored. Everything is from personal experience.

Before You Go

Book Accommodation Early

Popular destinations like Cesky Krumlov fill up weeks in advance during summer and autumn. Weekends in particular go fast. Book at least three weeks ahead if you are traveling between May and October.

Avoid Peak Summer Weekends

July and August weekends bring the largest crowds to tourist areas. If you have flexibility, late September and October offer cooler temperatures, autumn colors, and noticeably fewer visitors at most sites.

Czech Trains Are Reliable

The rail network connects most destinations covered here. Trains from Prague to Cesky Krumlov take around three hours with one change. Tickets are inexpensive and the scenery along the way is worth the journey itself.

Carry Some Czech Crowns

The Czech Republic uses the Czech Koruna (CZK), not the Euro. Many smaller restaurants, entrance fees, and market stalls operate cash-only. ATMs are widely available in towns, but less so in rural areas.

About This Guide

NediloPoint is written by Petra Novakova, a Prague-based writer who has spent the better part of a decade exploring the Czech Republic on weekends. Every destination featured here has been visited personally — often multiple times, in different seasons.

The goal is simple: practical information that helps you plan a trip worth taking, without the filler content that dominates most travel sites.
